In last year's series of posts about Christmas, we deliberately did not delve into the copious quantities of Christmas-themed genre fiction that have been published over the past 150 or so years (since the "re-invention" of Christmas in the mid-19th century). So we thought it might be worthwhile to spend at least one post rectifying that oversight.
Just about any genre a book collector might wish to focus upon is likely to have produced several bookshelves' worth of Christmas-themed fiction. If, for example, you're a romantic at heart, you'll find that publishers have catered to every desire, from traditional domestic romance to steamy, don't-let-Grandma-catch-you-reading-this! stuff:

SciFi fans will rejoice that Christmas survives the journey to other worlds and times...
...as will fans of the fantasy genre (all of whom follow Dickens' immortal lead):
Of all the Christmas-themed genre fiction that one can collect, though, none likely will require as much shelf space as Christmas mysteries. There's just something about Christmas that seems to bring out the monster in some of us...
...though some of these monsters, as fans of the horror genre are well aware, are not always quite human:
Christmas could, if you let it, lead to a real pulp fiction sort of book collection....
